Cristiano Ronaldo. The man, the myth, the legend. A name that needs no introduction in any part of the world. The talisman Portuguese striker has impressed fans and onlookers alike with his mesmerizing play, his uncanny instinct for finding the back of the net and also, his love for his fans.
And in yet another heartwarming display of affection towards his fans, a clip of Cristiano Ronaldo spending some time and clicking pictures with a blind fan who had come through to support the Portuguese during his recent match stole the hearts of countless others online.
As Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr thrashed Saudi Pro League side Al Fateh 5-0, the girl fan got the opportunity to meet the man she adores highly.
“I’m your biggest fan,” the girl can be heard saying in the video. Ronaldo, in response, said: “Thank you, thank you.”
“Actually, I just came for you. I loved you playing and I can’t believe that you scored those three goals,” she further said. “You gave me luck,” Ronaldo said in response.
Ronaldo has been in sublime form for his Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr this season, having notched 5 goals and 2 assists in 3 appearances for them yet, and has also led them to their first trophy after turning back the clock and putting on yet another timeless masterclass against Al Hilal to clinch the Arab Club Champions Cup.
The ex-Real Madrid superstar’s arrival to the Saudi Pro League last season has been instrumental in the growth the league has seen since then, as European superstar such as Karim Benzema, Roberto Firmino, Neymar Jr., N’Golo Kante, Jordan Henderson, Ruben Neves have all brought their talents as well to the league this summer.
The Saudi League has gained notoriety recently as they were exploring ways to gain a spot in the UEFA Champions League. The SPL currently competes in the Asian Football Confederation Champions League, where it has four entrants this year.
While unconventional, the European move wouldn’t be unprecedented. UEFA’s membership includes transcontinental countries Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan, as well as Israel, Cyprus, and Armenia.
But, as of now, no permanent move has percolated and the Saudi clubs are due to play in the AFC Champions Cup this year, with Al-Hilal set to make an appearance in India to play against ISL club, Mumbai City FC.
