13 matches are done and dusted in the World Cup 2023 in the first 10 days of the tournament. The World Cup 2023 has been an exciting one so far.

India, New Zealand, and South Africa have bossed the first phase of the group-stage round. India and New Zealand won their first three matches each, while South Africa recorded two big wins in their first two matches. These three teams are looking favorites to reach the semi-finals.

Defending champions England and 5-time champions Australia haven’t had a desired start. England won 1 out of 3 games, including a shock loss to Afghanistan. Australia lost their first two matches. Pakistan won their first two games before losing by a big margin to India.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh have both won one game after 3 matches. The Netherlands and Sri Lanka have lost their first two matches.

World Cup 2023: India are the best catching team; Australia the worst

The stat of catching efficiency of all the 10 teams in the first 13 matches of the World Cup 2023 was released recently. It revealed that India are the best catching team in the tournament so far while Australia have been the worst.

India have barely let any opportunity slip and have a terrific catching efficiency of 92%. Australia have been poor in the field, and it reflected on their catching efficiency of only 54%. Australia dropped 6 catches in the game against South Africa.

Behind India is Bangladesh with a whopping catching efficiency of 91%. The Netherlands and South Africa have catching efficiencies of 83% and 80% respectively.

The other teams have let a few opportunities down.

Pakistan have a catching efficiency of 79%, England of 78%, and New Zealand of 71%.

At the bottom of the pile are Afghanistan with a catching efficiency of 60%, followed by Sri Lanka with 58% catching efficiency, and at last are Australia with only 54% catching efficiency.
