Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag is under pressure after the side crashed out of the UEFA Champions League finishing at fourth in their respective group.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is confident about not getting sacked before Sir Jim Ratcliffe arrives at Old Trafford. The CEO of Ineos, Mr Ratcliffe is set to acquire a stake of 25 per cent in the Red Devils at the back of a £1.25 billion investment, reportedly, by next week.
Mr Ratcliffe has been in the race to acquire Manchester United from the Glazer family ever since they put the club for sale. With the deal solidifying between the two parties SunSport, quoted by The Sun, said that Jim Ratcliffe met with former Chelsea chief Potter and has favoured him as the new boss at Trafford if he fires Ten Hag. Despite this direct threat to his seat as manager, the Dutch boss expects that he will have a fair shot to impress the incoming investor.

Erik ten Hag’s first meeting is most likely to be with the Director of Sport Dave Brailsford rather than Mr Ratcliffe himself. His meeting with the investor will likely bank upon him remaining manager till Mr Ratcliffe’s arrival. Ten Hag believes that he will be able to provide the incoming investor with an outline of how he plans to overhaul the squad during the summer transfer window. Despite his optimism, Erik ten Hag will surely know that the club owners will want better results if they are to entrust him with the role. For now, the situation remains a little worrying for Ten Hag with United losing half of the 24 games they have played this season.
Erik ten Hag has been getting the heat in the ongoing campaign, especially since crashing out of the Champions League as the bottom-ranked team. Their last game of the group stage saw them take on Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. A 71st-minute finish from Kingsley Coman helped the German side seal victory over United at Old Trafford.

This saw the Dutchman’s side finish in 4th place with just one win in the five games they played. Bayern finished in first place while Copenhagen followed close to seal their place in the last 16. Whereas United are out of European Football for this season. A third-place finish would’ve seen them move to the Europa League qualification stage but that wasn’t the case.
Manchester United’s woes continued in the Premier League as well that saw them being hammered 3-0 by Bournemouth last week. They are set to play Liverpool next in their league game. Another humiliating loss could be the final straw that would see the Dutchman move out of the club. Jose Mourinho had departed similarly back in 2018, conceding a 3-1 loss to Jurgen Klopp’s men.
