Senior Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has said that the comparisons of Virat Kohli with him in the past made by the media and fans, and now Kohli’s comparison with Babar Azam is not right. Ahmed Shehzad put Virat Kohli on a way higher pedestal than himself and Babar.
Once an up-and-rising star in Pakistan cricket, the fans drew comparisons of Ahmed Shehzad with Virat Kohli, not just in their classy batting techniques, but in also their looks, beard, and style as both became youth icons in their respective countries.
But while Kohli kept on progressing in his career, Shehzad’s career dwindled and he last played for Pakistan in Tests and ODIs in 2017 and T20Is in 2019. Then soon, the Pakistani fans found Babar Azam as the new guy to hitch their wagon of their own Virat Kohli. However, even as Kohli underwent a slump of form and Babar pled up some handsome runs, now there remains a huge gap between the two as Kohli has got back to his best, while Azam has had some troubled last few months.
You cannot compare Virat Kohli with anyone in the world: Ahmed Shehzad
The 32-year-old Ahmed Shehzad, who featured in 153 internationals for Pakistan, has reportedly heaped Kohli with words of admiration, saying that Kohli shouldn’t be compared with Babar or any batsman in the world.
“You cannot compare Virat Kohli with anyone in the world. Not with Babar Azam or me. Everyone was wrong in comparing me with Kohli. Look at his performances and his records in all formats speaks for itself,” Ahmed Shehzad was reportedly quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, last month, infuriated by not being picked in the PSL draft, Ahmed Shehzad announced he had quit PSL. He even targeted the six franchises for a “deliberate effort” to not pick him for PSL. He said that he knew “exactly the reasons why I’m not made part of the PSL”, adding that he couldn’t see his self-respect go down.
