With the much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023 just around the corner, Indian cricket fans have received some positive reports about the availability of two of their key players, who are currently out of action because of injury — Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul.
Positive News About Jasprit Bumrah’s Recovery
Jasprit Bumrah last played for the Indian cricket team in September last year. Bumrah had apparently recovered from a stress fracture in the back because of which he was ruled out of the Asia Cup but as it turned out, the recovery wasn’t full proof.
After bowling just six overs in two T20Is against Australia, Bumrah broke down again. This time the issue was so severe that he underwent surgery in New Zealand in March. It has been almost four months since his surgery but his future remains uncertain of his impending comeback to team India.
However, as things looked bleak, a positive report emerged out of the blue which has given a ray of hope to the Indian fans. On Tuesday, after the much-awaited schedule of the ODI World Cup 2023 was announced by the ICC and BCCI, team India received an unexpected yet promising update on Bumrah.
According to a report by PTI, Bumrah, who began rehab at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy has resumed bowling. Yes, you read that right, Bumrah has started bowling seven overs per day at the NCA which comes at just the right time.
“For an injury of this nature, it is not wise to set any timeline as constant monitoring is necessary. But it can be said that Bumrah is recovering well and he has bowled seven overs at NCA nets. It is a steady increase in his workload from the light workouts and bowling sessions of the initial period. He will play a few practice matches (at NCA) next month, and there will be a close assessment of his fitness then,” a source tracking the development told PTI.
Massive update about KL Rahul’s health
Just like Bumrah, KL Rahul‘s return will be a big boost for the Indian cricket team. Rahul underwent surgery after injuring his right thigh in the middle of the IPL in May. He is currently doing his physical training. With his recovery on schedule, it is learned that Rahul is being looked at as the first-choice wicketkeeper for the World Cup. As per the report, Rahul will resume his skill brd training by mid-July
