The star of Shubman Gill continues to rise in what was perhaps his best IPL knock that helped Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 by 62 runs to seal a date with MS Dhoni’s CSK in the final for the IPL 2023 trophy in Ahmedabad.
Shubman lit up the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad with a sensational knock of 129 runs off 60 balls with the help of 7 fours and 10 sixes. Gill’s ton propelled GT’s score to a mammoth 233. The 23-year-old became only the 4th batsman in the history of the IPL to record over 800 runs in an IPL season.
After Gujarat Titans clinched the victory in Qualifier 2, there were plenty of celebrations among the GT players and their support staff.
In elation of this terrific victory, David Miller kissed Shubman Gill on his forehead to show his love and appreciation for the young Indian opener.

Speaking of his memorable century, Shubman Gill said: “For me, it’s all about playing ball to ball, assessing the situation over by over. Maybe the over in which I hit three sixes, that’s when I got the momentum to go big and I realised maybe this is my day and I have to make it big, because it is a good wicket to bat on.”
“[Six-hitting] is not a conscious decision. Obviously, you keep practicing, you want to keep growing, want to keep evolving as a batsman,” he said. “But I feel the belief is more important and that’s what I have had this year and the last year as well.”
He is the holder of the Orange Cap this season with 851 runs, scored at an average of 60.78 and strike rate of 156.43.
“It helps when you are coming off a good international season with runs under the belt,” he said. “With me, I know it’s about starting [well]; I know once I start, I can keep going.”
