Australia opener David Warner feels that there is a chance for India star Virat Kohli to play another World Cup at home, in 2031!
Virat Kohli will be 43 years of age in 2031 when India and Bangladesh are set to host the 2031 ODI World Cup. But David Warner believes that with Kohli’s elite fitness levels, he could feature in the 2031 World Cup and have another shot at the World Cup trophy, which he missed at the last stage in the recent 2023 World Cup.
David Warner won his second ODI World Cup title this year as Australia defeated India in the final in Ahmedabad. This seems that it was the last chance for Virat Kohli, aged 34, and Rohit Sharma, aged 36, to lift the ODI World Cup title. Kohli had won the ODI World Cup trophy in 2011 when he was a youngster.
Recently, Warner has been active on social media, in particular on Twitter. Warner even jokingly said that he wishes to play in the 2031 World Cup too. A fan then commented that hopefully, we will see Kohli, too, in the 2031 World Cup.
David Warner replied in affirmation, saying “No reason why he can’t, he is very fit and loves the game so much.”

David Warner likely to retire from international cricket in 2024
Meanwhile, Warner himself is likely to retire from all forms of international cricket in the coming months.
Warner is set for his Test retirement in the upcoming home summer. Starting December 14, Australia will host Pakistan for 3 Test matches, the last of which is in Warner’s home ground, at the SCG. It is almost confirmed that the SCG Test, at his home ground, will be the last Test match for the 37-year-old.
Pat Cummins said on Warner: “He’s a great of our game in all formats. So no doubt that’s part of it. First and foremost you think of the performance side of things when you are picking a side.”
The left-handed opener has previously said that he is targetting next year’s T20 World Cup in June as his swansong from international cricket.
