In yet another added detail to the Rashford saga, it has now been found out upon Rashford’s attempt to appear for his team in the FA Cup fixture, United boss Erik Ten Hag rejected the idea of it.
They swear that they don’t love the drama, but it seems to love them. Manchester United’s latest claim to infamy has been the whole Marcus Rashford Belfast incident that ended up with the striker missing the FA Cup fixture against Newport County.
In yet another added detail, it has now been found out upon Rashford’s attempt to appear for his team in the fixture, United boss Erik Ten Hag rejected the idea of it.
Too unwell to be part of the FA Cup win against Newport County on Sunday, Rashford worked instead at United’s Carrington base, the club said. But, he has become embroiled in controversy after being spotted in a nightclub in Belfast and missing training.
According to The Sun, Rashford spent 12 hours out partying as he visited a friend in Belfast. It is claimed he knocked back tequila shots and cocktails in what one waitress described as a ‘mission to get drunk’.
Waitress Sarah Adair alleged she served the United star lunch, but later ended up putting him to bed.
“I’m not surprised he missed training the next day given how late he got to bed and how much he’d had to drink,” she said. “He must’ve known he wasn’t going to be in any fit state to play football.”
It has now emerged that Rashford, who has been fined £650,000 by the club, actually offered to play on Sunday but Ten Hag rejected his proposal.
Rashford was willing to travel from Manchester to Wales on the Sunday morning ahead of the 4.30pm kick-off but Ten Hag ordered the 26-year-old to go and train at Carrington instead on the same day, according to The Times.
Ten Hag branded Rashford’s post‑derby birthday excursion to Chinawhite as “unacceptable” and then used the precise same language as he did in Newport: “It is an internal matter.”
Manchester United posted a club statement divulging information regarding the consequences of Rashford’s actions.
“Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.”
The drama just adds more fuel to the raging fire, which is the abysmal campaign that Manchester United are currently dealing with.
