Despite facing challenges in various leagues throughout 2023, Rilee Rossouw with stellar performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) showcased his potential. As a result, he is expected to attract significant attention and bids during the upcoming IPL auctions scheduled for December 19.
It has to be noted that, both Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals engaged in a bidding war for Rilee Rossouw in the previous IPL auction. Ultimately, Rossouw was bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹4.60 crore, surpassing his initial base price of ₹2 crore.
Rilee Rossouw made his IPL comeback after an eight-year hiatus, however, he failed to live up to the expectations of the fans and the franchise as the impact was not as significant as expected. He managed to score 209 runs in 9 innings with a strike rate of 148. While it wasn’t a poor performance, it fell short of making a consistent winning impact for DC.
After finishing in the ninth position in IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals were determined to make significant changes for the upcoming season. In a bid to revamp the team, the franchise released 11 players, including Rilee Rossouw, Rovman Powell, and Chetan Sakariya.
Rilee Rossouw Is Eyeing A Big Comeback In IPL
Meanwhile, Rossouw is confident and he is hopeful to see another bidding war for him. Talking about the same with a leading media, Rossow said:
“Don’t have a particular thing in mind. I think Delhi Capitals was really good to me last year. We had a solid camaraderie around the team. But in saying that, I did well with the Knights team in the American League. So it would be nice if it would be a little bit of a bidding war. I mean, that would be ideal for myself,”
He added: “Like at the end of the day, doesn’t matter who I play for. I want to do well for whichever franchise I’m picked,”
Comparing the Indian Premier League (IPL) to other cricket leagues worldwide, Rilee Rossouw emphasized the grand scale at which everything unfolds in the IPL. He said:
“I think IPL does everything on a bigger canvas. Everything’s bigger and better there as they say. It’s just glamorous from the outside. They spend so much money on marketing, in getting the fans in which is fantastic to see as a player. The fans love their cricket. So it’s fantastic to see that and how it’s been consistent over what’s it been like 20 years (16) of it. So it is probably one of the best leagues,”
