Dylan Alcott has continued his dominance of Roland Garros by winning his third consecutive French Open title to lay his claim to being the new King of Clay.
The Aussie claimed the 13th Grand Slam of his career with a straight sets win over Dutchman Sam Schroder.
Alcott needed to fight back from a break down in the opening set before taking the match 6-4, 6-2.
The victory means Alcott has a 100 per cent record having still never lost at Roland Garros – compared to Nadal, who has lost twice in more than 100 matches.

However, Alcott said he’s got a lot further to go before he can truly challenge Nadal’s throne.
“Well, that’s not bad. I haven’t lost at Roland Garros,” he said after his win.
“He’s lost once or twice. Yeah, it’s incredible. I don’t think I’ll be winning 13, though. Has he got 13? Probably 14 the way he’s going.
“People think that my purpose in life is winning Grand Slams and tennis tournaments and gold medals and stuff like that. But my real purpose in life is trying to change perceptions so people with disability can do whatever they want to do.”
Alcott’s win over Schroder was a repeat of his victory at the Australian Open over the 21-year-old earlier this year, but he backed his doubles partner to eventually break his Grand Slam duck.
“Mate, you played really well today,” he said.
“We went down in the doubles, but we played in the Australian Open final as well and it was a different match.
“You came out today and played so well, brother, and I’m sure you’ll be winning a few of these big ones in no time, so congrats.”
