HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAYDEV UNADKAT: Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who leads Saurashtra in first-class cricket, has endured a lot of turbulence in his international career. Having an exceptional ability to swing the ball both ways, Unadkat first raised eyebrows after leading the Indian pace attack in the 2010 U-19 World Cup. His stunning performance paved the way for Unadkat to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The left-arm-pacer represented Kolkata Knight Riders in his debut IPL season, with the team’s then-bowling coach Wasim Akram branding him as a future prospect.
The breakthrough finally came in 2017 when Jaydev Unadkat finished the season with 24 wickets for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant. He turned out to be the costliest buy in the following IPL auction, with Rajasthan Royals securing his signature.
Despite enjoying tremendous success in the IPL and in the domestic tournaments, Unadkat failed to show consistency in the Blue jersey. He made his international debut in 2010 during a Test series in South Africa and played his first ODI three years later in Zimbabwe.
