It has been a roller coaster ride for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. RCB is currently sitting in the 5th position on the IPL 2023 points table with 12 points, having won 6 of the 12 games they have played so far.
RCB Must Win Against SRH
With two games to go, Virat Kohli and his men have a fair chance to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs. RCB is all set to host Sunrisers Hyderabad for their last league match of the tournament. It is a must-win game for RCB as a win against SunRisers Hyderabad on Thursday will help them become a solid contender for the playoff spots.
In their previous game, RCB completely outplayed Rajasthan Royals with the bowlers putting up a stellar show and helping the side win the game.
If RCB manages to defeat SRH and defending champions Gujarat Titans, they have a fair chance of reaching the coveted 16-point mark. The two wins should be enough to clinch qualification, considering Punjab Kings were beaten by Delhi Capitals in a close-fought match.
NRR To Play A Big Role
Currently, RCB’s only competition for the playoff race is Mumbai Indians, who can also finish at 16 points but RCB holds the upper hand as they currently have a superior net run rate. But a defeat in the last two games will put RCB in massive trouble.
RCB will be able to reach just 14 points in that case and it will allow other teams — Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders, to keep their hopes alive for the playoffs. If that happens, the net run rate will be the final decider.
The win against SunRisers Hyderabad is extremely important in order to keep up the momentum of the team and also to maintain the net run rate that can prove to be crucial for them in the future.
