India wicket-keeper KL Rahul took a jaw-dropping catch – undoubtedly the best catch by a wicket-keeper in the World Cup 2023 so far – to dismiss Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz that sent the fans on social media in berserk mode.
India took on Bangladesh on Thursday for their group-stage encounter at the MCA Stadium in Pune for their fourth match of the tournament.
Bangladesh had gotten off to a good start with a 93-run opening stand between Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan. India stormed back into the game in the middle overs with quick wickets, taking 4 wickets in a space of 44 runs.
One of those wickets involved a blinder of a catch from wicketkeeper KL Rahul. Mehidy Hasan Miraz fended at a leg-side back of a length delivery from Mohammed Siraj. KL Rahul was nimble on his feet to move quickly to his left, put in a dive, and pouched the ball with his left hand only.
It was a marvelous catch from KL Rahul and the astonishment on the faces of the Indian players showed as everyone mobbed him and celebrated around him.
Netizens went wild seeing KL Rahul take such a stunning catch that further put pressure on Bangladesh, who are without their main man Shakib Al Hasan today due to an injury to the all-rounder.
This catch from Rahul further reflected the great spirit in the Indian team of making a comeback after a partnership. While Mitchell Santner has taken a couple of blinders in the field, this is certainly the best catch by a wicketkeeper so far.
Here are some reactions of fans on the stunning catch by KL Rahul:
Bangladesh interim skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto had won the toss and elected to field first in Pune against India.
