India captain Rohit Sharma will lead the side against Pakistan on October 14 in Ahmedabad in what is the biggest blockbuster game for India this year until today. India will be hoping that they not only win this encounter but also return to Ahmedabad on November 19 for the final of the World Cup 2023.
With very few Pakistani fans given visas, Rohit Sharma and the Indian team will have the majority of support in the 130,000-capacity crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Rohit understands that there were huge expectations from the fans; India hold a 7-0 streak over Pakistan in ODI World Cup, and they would want to continue on their unbeaten streak.
Ahmedabad jeweller makes gold World Cup trophy for Rohit Sharma
Fans are excited for this mega-clash and for this tournament, which is being staged in India after 12 years. Fans have been showing support to Team India in various ways.
One passionate cricket fan from Gujarat has made quite an expensive gesture for Rohit Sharma and Team India.
Rauf Sheikh, who is a jeweller in Ahmedabad, designed and modeled the lightest replica of the World Cup trophy using gold! Yes, Sheikh had made a miniature World Cup trophy of gold and it weighs around 0.900 grams. Sheikh says he’d like to gift this expensive trophy to the India skipper.
‘In 2014, I made a World Cup trophy weighing 1.200 grams and in 2019, I broke my own record by making a 1-gram trophy. Now in 2023, I have made a trophy weighing 0.900 grams…If I get a chance during the upcoming India-Pakistan match, I will give this trophy to Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma,’ Sheikh told ANI.
Shubman Gill is all set to take part in IND vs PAK
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed – or all but confirmed – that Shubman Gill will make his World Cup debut against Pakistan. He missed the first two India matches due to dengue.
On the eve of the match, Rohit said that Gill is “99 percent” fit for the match, which effectively means Gill will open alongside him on Saturday. Gill batted for a couple of hours in the nets on Friday and was seen inspecting the pitch as well on Saturday.
