Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan seems to have sided with Gautam Gambhir in the latter’s tussle with their former teammate S Sreesanth.
Gautam Gambhir and Sreesanth had a big blowout during their face-off on Wednesday night in a game in the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) tournament in Surat. Irfan Pathan commented on Gambhir’s tweet on Thursday morning.
While Gambhir posted a tweet with the caption “Smile when the world is all about attention!”, Sreesanth went on a video rant on his Instagram, both on Wednesday night after the game and on Thursday morning, alleging that Gambhir called him a “fixer”.
Gautam Gambhir captained the India Capitals against Parthiv Patel’s Gujarat Giants, in which Sreesanth played, and defeated the Giants by 12 runs in the Eliminator match, knocking the Giants out of the tournament.
Tempers flared on the field between Sreesanth and Gambhir. In the second over of Capitals’ innings, opener and captain Gambhir smashed Sreesanth for a big sixer, followed by a superb straight drive four. After a dot ball, Sreesanth could be seen saying something to Gambhir as the batter looked on with a confused face.
A few overs later, Sreesanth and Gambhir got engaged in a fiery verbal battle and both were very close to getting into each other’s faces. It took both umpires and Giants skipper Parthiv Patel to keep the two away from each other. The video of this event went viral.

Gambhir posted a picture of himself smiling and captioned it “Smile when the world is all about attention!”
To this, Irfan Pathan commented: “Smile is the best Answer brother”
This comment from Irfan Pathan has added more fuel to this already heated battle between two Indian World Cup winners.
On his Insta Live, Sreesant said, “A lot of people have been asking me what happened. I am not going to spend a lot of PR to spread wrong news. I came live to clear the air. I am just a normal person, God has been kind to me, have fought my battles by myself, with the help of loved ones and your support. On live TV, on the centre wicket, he called me a fixer…fixer…fixer. I did not use any abusive words.”
