The Ashes 2023 between Australia and England has kickstarted on a blockbuster note with the first Test match turning out to be a full-on entertainer. England skipper Ben Stokes has got the cricket world talking because of his impressive captaincy skills.
Ben Stokes Has Impressed Everyone With His All-Round Show
He has impressed everyone with his creative moves and his fearless approach as a captain. On Day 3 of the ongoing Test match, Stokes had the cricket world in a frenzy over his innovative umbrella- field for Australian opener Usman Khawaja. With the wicket at the Edgbaston offering no assistance to the bowlers, Stokes pulled off a masterstroke by pursuing a field with no slips and a ring of three fielders each on the off and leg side at catching positions in front of the wicket.
As a result of it, the Southpaw was dismissed two balls later while charging down the pitch to Ollie Robinson and having his stumps uprooted.
Besides captaincy, Stokes, who is hailed as a ‘big match player’ once again lived up to his reputation. From his crucial knock to his bowling and fielding efforts, Ben Stokes is doing everything required for his side.
On Day 5, Stokes once again sent social media into a frenzy as he gave a crucial breakthrough to his side when it mattered the most. In an inspired bowling change, Ben Stokes brought himself on and dismissed Usman Khawaja, who has been by far Australia’s best batter in the first Test of the 2023 Ashes.
Khawaja scored 141 runs in the first innings which got them close to parity with England, he once again played like a lone warrior in the run-chase in the 2nd innings as wickets tumbled around him.
