Rain took control of the Miami Masters’ schedule delaying the start of play by some six hours and then allowing just two men’s second round matches to be completed before returning to suspend the remaining day’s programme.
The two matches which were completed saw the Czech Tomas Machac eliminate the fifth deed from Russia, Andrey Rublev, 6-4 6-4 while the in-form Frenchman Ugo Humbert defeated equally comfortably, the Dutchman Botic van de Zanschulp 6-4 6-3.
Three Britons were scheduled to play but only Andy Murray’s match against the Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry got to start but was suspended six games later with the score level at 3-all.

The former world No.1, a two-time champion at Miami (2009 and 2013), is seeking to avenge his defeat by the Argentine, seeded 29 at this year’s event, for beating in last January’s Australian Open.
Murray is also looking to score his first back-to-bac wins at a tournament this season following his excellent recovery to dismiss Lorenzo Sonego in the first round leading to him remarking there ‘is life in the old dog yet’!
Meanwhile Jack Draper and Cameron Norrie got another day’s rest.
