Bayern Munich head coach Tuchel heaped praise on an in-form Arsenal side, who are also chasing the Premier League title with 10 game weeks before the conclusion of the English top-tier competition.
The quarterfinal draws for the prestigious UEFA Champions League were announced on Friday with some mouthwatering contests lined up including German champions Bayern Munich’s fixture against English side Arsenal.
Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel heaped praise on an in-form Arsenal side, who are also chasing the Premier League title with 10 game weeks before the conclusion of the English top-tier competition.
“We certainly have the most difficult road imaginable ahead of us – now playing against one of the best teams in Europe,” said the 50-year-old.
The Bayern coach opined that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are a dangerous team who have the firepower to net a lot of goals.
“Arsenal have been playing consistently at the top for two years. It’s a homogeneous, dangerous team, they score a lot of goals,” Tuchel continued.
However, the 50-year-old German tactician expressed that the Bundesliga champions were aware of their qualities and would be prepared to face the challenges that the English league leaders would present.
“But we will be prepared for it. We know our qualities,” the German added.
French champions PSG will take on Spanish league holders Barcelona in their bid to progress to the semifinal, while the biggest draw of the season yet will see 14-time UCL winners Real Madrid go up against reigning champions Manchester City.
Atletico Madrid, who progressed to the quarterfinal with a nail-biting win over the previous season’s finalists Inter Milan on penalties to advance in the elite continental competition, are slated to take on German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund.
The winner of the double-legged tie between Bayern and Arsenal will go up against the winner of the heavyweight clash between City and Real. While, either Atletico or Dortmund face the daunting task of squaring up against Barcelona or PSG, depending on the result of the clash between the Spanish and the French champions.
The first leg of the games between Arsenal and Bayern will be played on the 10th of April, the same day Real take on City.
Atletico will welcome Borussia on the 11th of the same month, while PSG host the opening bout of their clash against Barcelona.
