MS Dhoni marched the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) into the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi for their last league phase match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on a hot Saturday afternoon.
While temperatures role in Delhi, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had kept his head cool which showed in his witty reply to anchor Danny Morrison at the toss when the presenter nudged the CSK skipper about their qualification scenario for the playoffs in IPL 2023.
CSK are on the second spot in the points table heading into this match with 15 points in 13 games. However, they are not there yet in the playoffs. In fact, if they lose this match against DC, and LSG, RCB, and MI win their last match, CSK would be knocked out.
CSK’s fate still is in their hands. They win against DC and they will qualify for the playoffs.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first.
The toss host Morrison asked Mahendra Singh Dhoni about qualification for the playoffs to which the CSK captain gave a cheeky reply.
The former New Zealand cricketer asked, “Simple equation, you win and you are there. You are qualified, right?”
Smilingly, MS Dhoni replied: “We’ve been trying to win games right from the first game.”
This led to a bit of a cheer in the crowd who were on their feet already after Mahendra Singh Dhoni had won the toss.
