In the end, a 110-run partnership between Mark Chapman and Jimmy Neesham helped New Zealand cross the victory line. Chapman played an unbeaten knock of 65 runs, which was laced with six boundaries and three sixes. Meanwhile, South Africa was slated to play their opening warm-up game against Afghanistan. Due to bad weather in Thiruvananthapuram, the match was called off without a ball being bowled.
