Novak Djokovic won a seventh Wimbledon title and 21st Grand Slam crown on Sunday with a four-set triumph over Nick Kyrgios, whose challenge unravelled in frustration after a blistering start.
Top seed Djokovic won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7/3) to equal Pete Sampras’s mark of seven titles at the All England Club and move within one of the men’s record of eight held by Roger Federer.

The 35-year-old Serb is now one Slam ahead of Federer in the all-time race and just one behind Rafael Nadal’s record of 22 majors.
For Kyrgios it was a fiery end to his best run at a major.
The Australian took his frustrations out on the crowd and one unruly spectator before unleashing several tirades at his own player’s box.

’Do you f***ing care? Aussie great slams Kyrgios over ‘ridiculous’ Wimbledon outburst
What tennis commentators said:
JOHN MCENROE (On Kyrgios’ anger at his box)
“In a way he beat himself. I don’t get that part [getting angry with his own entourage],” he said.
“I get that he’s burning off nerves and steam. Maybe they should all go and file out. Maybe that would actually do something.
“It’s their fault at set all, four all, 40-0!? He lost the game because of them”.
TODD WOODBRIDGE
“Well, the match brought us everything that we had anticipated, didn’t it?,” he said.
“Nick Kyrgios came out as he had to. He put the pressure on the champion winning that first set with an exceptional array of shots. But then it was Novak who, what we have seen so many times before, came through with the consistency, the
determination and accuracy.
“Everything you could throw at him. And he wore our Australian down.”
JELENA DOKIC
“It was keeping those emotions in check (for Djokovic).”
“He was so consistent. He knew that anything could happen out there, he was ready for it. This is the best I have seen him with his focus and how he played the big points well.
“This is the best I have seen him all year, really.
“The rest of the field really needs to do something special and catch up to Novak on grass. Because no-one really has the answers. Nick today, he was close with a bit more experience, that could have gone to five sets.”
On Kyrgios’ Wimbledon run:
“I really actually hope he enjoyed this though because it is such a huge result to get to the final,” she said.
“We know he has the talent and the ability. We have seen it today.
“He actually pushed Novak a lot. That was a tight four sets. I don’t really think that a lot of people would have that ability in the final of Wimbledon.
SAM GROTH
“It was (Djokovic’s) level- headedness, the ability to draw on past experiences. When you have won this tournament six times you know what to expect and he was level-headed right throughout this entire match.
“Nick’s level came off a little bit. He started having arguments with the crowd, his box, pretty much anybody that was in his way.
“It was just the tennis that does the talking for him [Djokovic]… if you compare the big three, Nadal and Federer and Djokovic, the level that they have pushed each other to over the years, “I mean it is impossible really to beat these guys over the best of five sets.”
Naturally the match generated plenty of discussion on social media with Kyrgios’ antics a hot topic of conversation. UK TV host Piers Morgan was particularly savage in his comments on Kyrgios while comedian Ricky Gervais saw the lighter side of it all.
The tennis world, meanwhile, was blown away by the class of Djokovic.
And it wasn’t just tennis stars showing their admiration
