He’s one of the fiercest and most driven competitors in the sporting world, but Novak Djokovic showed his class with a touching act of sportsmanship in the middle of his epic Wimbledon battle with Jannik Sinner.
Having lost the first two sets of their quarterfinal, Djokovic fought back to beat the 10th-seeded youngster 5-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
Late in the fourth set, Sinner tumbled to the grass heavily as he raced to retrieve a ball at the net, rolling his ankle on the hallowed turf of the All England Club.

He immediately appeared in agony, leaving a packed crowd on Centre Court – including Prince William – in shock.
The scene was reminiscent of Alexander Zverev’s horror ankle injury at the French Open in a semi-final with Rafael Nadal, which saw Zverev limp away from the match on crutches having suffered three damaged ligaments.
In clear concern for his downed opponent, Djokovic climbed over the net to come to his aid, while the umpire also descended from his chair to help.
Djokovic helped Sinner to his feet, the rising star waving off medical treatment and continuing the match shortly afterwards. But Sinner looked to be moving more tentatively in the fifth set as Djokovic roared to victory.
