Prakhar Chaturvedi has written his name in the record books by scoring the first quadruple century in the final of the Cooch Behar Trophy, India’s premier multi-day tournament for Under-19 men. Along the way, he broke Yuvraj Singh’s record for the highest individual score in a Cooch Behar Trophy final match, and slotted in at No. 2 on the list of highest individual scores in the tournament overall.
Chaturvedi’s 404 not out took Karnataka 890 for 8 in response to Mumbai’s 380 in Shivamogga for a win on the basis of the first-innings lead.
Karnataka opened with Chaturvedi and Karthik SU, and the two put on a century stand, with Karthik scoring 50. The next partnership was even bigger, as Chaturvedi and Harshil Dharmani added 290 for the second wicket – Dharmani scoring 169 – which took Karnataka past Mumbai’s total. There were two other half-centuries in the innings, from Karthikeya KP and Hardik Raj – with Chaturvedi chugging along at the other end.
The innings was called off and the match ended once Chaturvedi got to his landmark, finishing 404 not out off 638 balls, with 46 fours and three sixes.
