R Ashwin Penned A Heartfelt Note: Heath Streak, the legendary Zimbabwe cricketer, is very much alive. A hoax news was all over the internet about Heath Streak’s death. His teammate Henry Olonga was the first person to break the news (hoax) of Streak’s death, which he has now deleted.
“Sad news coming through that Heath Streak has crossed to the other side. RIP @ZimCricketv legend. The greatest all rounder we produced. It was a pleasure playing with you. See you on the other side when my bowling spell comes to an end…,” Olonga had posted earlier.
However, hours after announcing Zimbabwe cricketer Heath Streak’s death on X, his former teammate Henry Olonga shared another message confirming otherwise. Olonga shared a screenshot of his Whatsapp conversation with Streak, who wrote that he is ‘very much alive’ and requested Henry to take down his previous update.
“I can confirm that rumours of the demise of Heath Streak have been greatly exaggerated. I just heard from him. The third umpire has called him back. He is very much alive folks,” Olonga wrote on X.

Meanwhile, fans on the internet took a sigh of relief after reading the eye-soothing information regarding Heath’s health. As the news of his death went viral, several websites, along with the captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team Sean Williams shared the hoax. Following this several members of the cricketing fraternity joined in, including India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Besides Ashwin, the likes of VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, and Anil Kumble also took to their social media and penned heartfelt condolences. Later, all of them took down their posts.
R Ashwin Penned A Heartfelt Note For Heath Streak
On Thursday, Ashwin took to his social media and apologized to Heath Streak for the ‘inaccurate’ tweet from his side. He wrote:
“I saw Henry Olonga’s tweet and mourned it too. It came from a place of utter disbelief and sadness.
Deleted that tweet but glad to know that you are doing fine. @HeathStreak3 Take care and apologies for the inaccurate tweet from my side.”
