Ravi Ashwin picks Mitchell Starc as the most expensive player in IPL 2024 auction
According to Ravi Ashwin, Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc is likely to be the most expensive player in the IPL 2024 auction. Starc is set to make his return to the IPL since 2015. He played in the 2014 and 2015 seasons for RCB.
He was picked in the 2018 IPL auction by KKR but pulled out due to injury. He’s missed all other IPL seasons since 2015 due to injury or rest and workload management. Starc has put his name in the IPL 2024 auction at the base price of INR 2 crore.
Ravi Ashwin did a fun video on his Instagram. In the video, he was shown to pick between two players as to who will be more expensive. The video eliminated the non-selected player and put forward another player. It included the likes of Rachin Ravindra (INR 50 lakh base price), Travis Head (INR 2 crore), Daryl Mitchell (INR 1 crore), Wanindu Hasaranga (INR 1.5 crore), Harshal Patel (INR 2 crore), Shardul Thakur (INR 2 crore), Shahrukh Khan (INR 40 lakh), Pat Cummins (INR 2 crore), Mitchell Starc (INR 2 crore), and Gerald Coetzee (INR 2 crore).
In the end, Mitchell Starc remained as Ravi Ashwin’s pick for the most expensive pick in the IPL 2024 auction. Last auction, it was Sam Curran who became the most expensive all-time IPL auction pick, as the Punjab Kings bought him for INR 18.5 crore.
