At the beginning of the game, Rohit Sharma came dangerously close to suffering an injury at the hands of Ishan Kishan, a member of his own team.
Rohit Sharma, the normal captain of the Mumbai Indians, started the IPL 2023 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday in Hyderabad after making an impact player appearance in the previous game while suffering from a “stomach bug.” Ishan Kishan, a member of his own squad, gave him a serious injury scare at the beginning of the game. But during the event at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, former India head coach Ravi Shastri found the humour in it.
After Mumbai Indians were given the opportunity to bat first and SRH captain Aiden Markram decided to chase at the home stadium, the incident occurred in the fourth over of the game. Ishan cleared his right leg to smash the overpitched delivery from Marco Jansen towards mid-off, but the ball landed on Rohit’s pads. Rohit attempted to avoid it but was unsuccessful, and as a result, was almost hit by a shot.
Rohit Sharma was on one knee in the ground groaning in anguish, his wife Ritiki Sajdeh, who was in the audience, was left completely disturbed.

Meanwhile, Shastri, who was in the commentary box, saw the funny side of it and rather dropped an epic one-liner. He said: “Rohit’s hands were in the right place”.
T Natarajan, a left-arm pacer, managed to get him out in the fifth over of the game. Rohit scored 28 points off of 18 plays, including four goals.
After losing their first two games of the IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians enter their encounter against SRH riding a wave of victories. And Hyderabad has experienced the same thing. In the points standings, the two clubs are currently eighth and ninth, respectively.
