Indian captain Rohit Sharma achieved yet another milestone in his glorious cricketing career and surpassed MS Dhoni to become the fifth-highest run-getter for the Indian cricket team in international cricket. The Indian captain achieved the milestone on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test match between India and West Indies. Rohit smashed a half-century in the first session of the day.

Rohit Sharma, with 17281 runs was already ahead of MS Dhoni on the list of batters with the most runs for team India Rohit also surpassed Dhoni, who finished his international career with 17266 runs.
Rohit gave a blockbuster start to team India and smashed a gritty half-century in the first session en route to his journey to the fifth position. The list of the most runs by an Indian is topped by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, with 34357 runs in 664 games.
Sachin Tendulkar is followed by the batting superstar Virat Kohli, who has scored 25461 runs. It has to be noted that both Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli haven’t played any international cricket for any other country apart from Team India. MS Dhoni has played a few games for Asia XI.
Former Indian batter Rahul Dravid, who is hailed as the ‘wall of Indian cricket’ is sitting at the third spot. Dravid also played for ICC World XI and Asia XI. At the fourth position, Sourav Ganguly is sitting with 18575 runs. Rohit Sharma is very close to surpassing Ganguly as well and can replace him in the next one year.
Meanwhile, talking about the ongoing Test match, Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal punished West Indies’ bowlers and added 121 runs for the first wicket in the opening session. Rohit is batting on 63 runs while Yashasvi has scored 52 runs so far. Rohit and Yashasvi have put up a double-century partnership in the first Test match and will aim to replicate their heroics in this game as well.
