Despite being ignored for the World Cup 2023 squad, veteran Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has shown his support to the Team India players and given them the best wishes for the upcoming tournament at home.
Shikhar Dhawan has displayed a positive outlook on his life following his selection snub and dropping from the Indian team across formats.
He recently visited the Jyotirling temple of Baba Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain to take blessing from the god Mahadev and also to pray for the victory of Team India in the World Cup 2023. Notably renowned Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar also visited the same temple on his 56th birthday along with his son Aarav and sister Alka Bhatia.

Speaking to the media after his visit to the Mahakaleshwar temple, Shikhar Dhawan said: “Everyone’s wish is that India wins the World Cup and I have also asked for the same wish.”
The 37-year-old Shikhar Dhawan, who last played for India in December 2022 before losing his opening spot to Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, recently posted a tweet following the Indian 15-man squad announcement for the World Cup 2023, from which he was excluded.
“Congratulations to my fellow team mates and friends chosen to represent India in the WC 2023 tournament! With the prayers and support of 1.5 billion people, you carry our hopes and dreams. May you bring the cup back home and make us proud! Go all out, Team India!” Dhawan tweeted.
Dhawan’s India career seems to now have concluded. He formed the most successful ODI pair of the past decade with Rohit Sharma. Overall, the left-hander scored 2315 Test runs, 6793 ODI runs, and 1759 T20I runs. He continues to feature in the IPL for Punjab Kings.
