Tennis Wall Drills | 20+ Drills To Improve Using A Practice Wall.
Working on your tennis game on a tennis wall is one of the best ways to practice and improve your game when you’re alone.
Too often, players will start hitting against a tennis wall and get bored very quickly because they don’t know how to use the practice wall and drills they can do on it. In this video, coach Simon from Top Tennis Training will demonstrate and explain more than twenty drills you can use on a practice wall to help you improve all areas of your tennis game.
Drill one: Forehands on the spot. This drill will help you groove your forehand on the spot and improve your accuracy with the target zone on the wall being a small zone. Focus on early racket preparation and getting behind the ball.
Drill two: Backhands on the spot. This drill will help you groove your backhand (one-handed or two-handed backhand) and improve your accuracy on the backhand groundstroke.
Drill three: Forehand stance drill. One open stance forehand followed by one neutral stance forehand. This drill will help you change stances on your forehand side and improve both stances. A great drill for loading the leg muscles.
Drill four: Backhand stance drill. One open stance backhand followed by a neutral stance backhand. This drill can be done on both the one-handed backhand and the two-handed backhand.
Drill five: Forehands from the whole court. One forehand crosscourt followed by an inside-out forehand. The target will be the middle of the wall, a great drill to improve your movement around your forehand.
Drill six: Working on the top hand for the two-handed backhand. Alternate between hitting forehands with your top hand (left hand for right-handers) and two-handed backhands. Use the same grip at all times, so you’ll be hitting forehands with your backhand grip.
Drill seven: Short and deep forehands. Hit one short forehand, followed by a deep forehand. Work on moving up to the short ball as early as you can and then getting back behind the ball for the deep forehand.
