David Warner did not miss out on any of his personal or professional commitments on Friday as he landed at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) to play a BBL game for Sydney Thunder soon after attending his brother’s wedding in a faraway part of the city.
In a Hollywood style, David Warner arrived at the SCG on Friday evening at around 5 PM to play the Sydney derby against the Sydney Sixers, after attending his brother’s wedding in the morning.
Now retired from Test and ODI cricket, Warner had made a commitment of playing three BBL games this season for his franchise, the Sydney Thunder, before he flies out to the UAE for his ILT20 commitments.
However, there were concerns in the Thunder camp whether the superstar opener would be able to feature in Friday’s important fixture against the local rivals because the date clashed with his brother’s wedding. But, as a thorough professional as he is, David Warner ensured he arrived in time to play the match, and he did in grand style.

The BBL social media handles uploaded the video of Warner’s mega-entry at the SCG via a helicopter.
The BBL insta handle captioned the video: “Ever seen anything like it?! 😆 @davidwarner31 arrives to the @ourscg on a helicopter for the Sydney Smash. #BBL13”
David Warner concluded his Test career a few days ago here at the SCG, as Australia white-washed Pakistan 3-0.
“He is a bit Hollywood, isn’t he, that’s very Davey,” Sean Abbott had joked yesterday. “I got the Lime bike in today and I’ll be doing the same tomorrow night and riding out the gate as Davey lands.
“I’m glad they are making it happen because think everyone in the country who is a fan of cricket wants to see David Warner in the BBL and I’m really looking forward to coming up against him. One of the best players in the world and has been for a long time.”
