There were doubts regarding England’s new approach in the longest format of the game – ‘Bazball’, ahead of the recently-concluded Ashes 2023 Test series. However, under the head coach Brendon McCullum and Stokes, the England cricket team has played an attacking brand of cricket.
While the England side failed to fire-up in the first two games of the series, but the Stokes-led team made a brilliant comeback and showcased the potential of Brendon McCullum idea, winning two of the last three Tests.
Overall, the England cricket team has won 14 out of 18 games under the new management and new ‘Bazball’ approach. However, fresh doubts have emerged about whether their Baz approach will work in India.
Ben Stokes’s Reply On Whether Bazball Approach Will Work In India
It has to be noted that the England cricket team will travel to India for the upcoming five-match series for the first time in January 2024. The pitches in India tend to assist the spinners and thus, there are chances that England might struggle to play with the same approach.
The upcoming Test series between India and England, which is slated to start in January 2024. Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala will host the respective matches. Except for Dharamshala, all the pitches primarily support spinners, and thus England might find it difficult to get going.
Speaking about the same, Ben Stokes people had their doubts about Baz before the New Zealand series, the Pakistan series, and also ahead of the Ashes 2023 series. Therefore, the captain will back the same approach and stated that only time will tell if it will work in India. He said:
“I remember when we beat New Zealand 3-0, (the chatter) was we couldn’t do it against South Africa, (we) couldn’t do it against Pakistan, (we) couldn’t do it against Australia. So who knows if we can do it against India, only time will tell,”
