Virat Kohli Missing in Team India’s pre-World Cup shoot
The BCCI shared an Instagram reel with the recently released film Jawan’s theme song as the background score. Ace batter Virat Kohli was a major missing in the video.
The fever of cricket has gripped India as the country gears up for ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, starting Thursday in Ahmedabad. The spotlight will be on Rohit Sharma & Co as they aim to end the decade-long drought of an ICC title on home soil. There is no dearth of confidence in the Indian camp, especially after the Asia Cup triumph in Sri Lanka and a 2-1 series win against the Aussies. Before facing the Netherlands in a warm-up fixture on Tuesday in Thiruvananthapuram, the members of the Indian cricket team had some fun during a photo shoot.
The BCCI shared an Instagram reel with the recently released film Jawan’s theme song as the background score. The likes of Rohit, KL Rahul, Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur and Ishan Kishan could be seen posing in front of a 360-degree rotating camera. Ace batter Virat Kohli was a major missing in the video.
“Raring to go for #CWC23 #TeamIndia,” the caption of the reel read.
Virat Kohli flies back home
The Indian team touched down in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday without Virat Kohli. According to Cricbuzz, Kohli has returned home from Guwahati and will link up with the squad on Monday when they have an optional training session.
Kohli is gearing up for what will be the fourth ODI World Cup of his storied international career. Ahead of the tournament, he admitted that the past two-and-a-half years of his career have taught him a lot including a phase when he went without scoring a century in any form of cricket for nearly two years.
“The last two and a half years have taught me a lot. Those angry celebrations are a thing of the past. I have had many suggestions, lots of advice has come my way; people were telling me I was doing this wrong, that wrong,” Kohli told ICC.
“I picked out all the videos from the best time I had, same initial movement, same approach towards the ball and it was just what was happening inside my head, I wasn’t able to explain it to anyone,” he added.
India’s first warm-up game was washed out
Earlier on Saturday, India’s warm-up fixture against England was washed out due to rain without a ball bowled. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat after which rain appeared to spoil the party.
