Yashavi Jaiswal scored a century in the men’s cricket quarter-final against Nepal to set up a 23-run win for India.
Rising India star Yashasvi Jaiswal on Tuesday scored his maiden T20I century to help his team qualify for the semi-finals of the Asian Games men’s cricket competition. Jaiswal scored a blazing 100 0ff 49 to help India to 202/4 against Nepal in Hangzhou (China).
Jaiswal thus became the youngest Indian to score a T20I century, surpassing the previous record set by Shubman Gill.

At 21 years and 279 days, Jaiswal is now the youngest batter to hit a century men’s T20I and also the first to score a hundred at a multi-sport event.
Gill had scored 126 earlier this year against New Zealand aged 23 years and 146 days to set the record which now belongs to Jaiswal.
India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bat first at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field.
While other Indian batters struggled, Jaiswal seemed to be batting on a different pitch has he consistently collected boundaries. With eight fours and seven sixes, the left-handed opener made 100 off 49.
Rinku Singh’s fireworks in the death overs as he remained unbeaten on 37 off 15 propelled India to a big total. Nepal though put up a solid response and left India a little nervous with their middle order fighting back despite losing wickets at regular intervals.
Nepal finished at 179/9 in 20 overs as India secured a 23-run win.
Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan took three wickets each while debutant Ravi Sai Kishore gave an impressive account of himself with figures of 1/25 from four overs besides taking a couple of catches too.
Wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma also made his India debut, scored just five runs and took a catch as well.
Arshdeep Singh took a couple of wickets too but proved quite expensive, leaking 43 runs from his four overs.
The Indian team will be back in action on Friday when the semifinals have been scheduled while the gold medal match will be played on Saturday.
